Help Tip from a Massage
Therapist
Your
“glutes” (muscles that make up your buttock area) help to move your
thigh at the hip joint. No wonder then that tight “glute” muscles can
contribute to what feels like lower back pain/stiffness, and sometimes
even pain down the back of the thigh.
Something you can do while sitting on a comfortable chair or couch
at home (or even at the office in a comfy chair), is to sit on a tennis
ball. Hold it in one area of
your buttock for 20 seconds, then move a little and hold the ball in that
spot for 20 seconds, and so on. If
you have tightness in your neck and/or back, you can do the same thing.
Just press your neck or back into the ball on a chair or couch, hold it in
a certain area for 20 seconds (always
avoiding your spine), roll it to another spot and hold for 20
seconds, etc. Another massage therapist actually recommended this
treatment to me to do between the times I receive massages, and it really
does help! by
