Yoder has enjoyed watching The
Beauty Spa grow since she
first opened the doors in 1990 at 188 S. Mason Street in Harrisonburg, providing
her clients with aromatherapy facials, massage therapy, and skin and nail care.
First having trained in aesthetics at the European Facial Center and School for Natural Therapies in Alexandria, Virginia in 1986, she has since attended numerous courses throughout the country to perfect the specialized treatments she offers. Included in these are: Aromaology, Aveda Institute, Minneapolis, Minnesota; Massage Therapy, including introductions to Shiatsu, Trager, Polarity Therapy. The Virginia School of Massage, Charlottesville, Virginia; Aromatherapy with Eve Taylor of London, England, also Dr. Vodder's method of Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage at The Dermal Institute, Reston, Virginia; and Ayurvedic Beauty Care with Melanie Sachs, Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Aromatherapy use of pure essential oils of plants and flowers form the basis of the treatments at the Beauty Spa, due to their unrivaled benefits to a person's mind and body for healing, uplifting and rejuvenating. In designing the treatments, Anita believes that "high touch" is most pleasurable and desirable for best rejuvenating results, as the healing energy factor of the practitioner is immeasurably valuable.
An avid student of yoga of various traditions for over 25 years, Anita believes in the support of inner fitness and beauty through such training that develops mind and body in harmony. Natural foods cookery is a personal passion that Anita believes is healthy for the body and brings beauty and balance by its respect of the earth on which we live.
Anita loves being in the outdoors, whether to garden, swim, bike, hike or walk, and delights in any opportunity for horseback riding and downhill skiing. Traveling to countries abroad and destinations in the US to explore spas and natural healing facilities is a passion that has always been a part of her life.
